Session Recap
The Benchmark KSE100 index opened at 40,137.78pts with a negative gap of -5.85pts and face some serious pressure during the whole day. In first few minutes index posted its day high at 40,150.34pts with a positive change of 6.71pts but then bears started taking over the market and they pushed index towards its day low at 39,196.19pts with a net change of -947.44pts after some intraday corrections. Later on index settled at 39,296.70pts with net change of -846.93pts.
Trading volume at PSX floor dropped slightly to settle at 180.77 million shares with net change of -12.77 million shares or -6.6% on DoD basis. While trading volume of KSE100 listed companies also shrank by 27.39 million shares or 17.42% to settle at 129.84 million shares. HASCOL, UNITY and MLCF remained volume leaders at PSX floor with net trading volume of 15.32, 11.64 and 9.62 million shares and net price change of -6.00, -7.48 and -1.33 percent respectively.
Today, 341 companies participated in trading at PSX floor and only 43 out of these closed with a positive price change while 17 companies closed with no change but 281 companies closed with net negative price change at day end. PAKT, UPFL and OTSU remained top three volume leaders with net price change of 122.40, 100.00 and 17.67 Rs/share. While on the other side NESTLE, RMPL and COLG remained top price losers with net price change of -477.00, -217.33 and -120.00 Rs/share respectively.
Sector Performance
Cement, Technology and OMC Sectors remained top three volume leading sectors today with net trading volume of 27.42, 23.18 and 20.15 million shares respectively. Exploration, Banks and Fertilizer sectors have dragged index into negative zone by -147.56, -121.98 and -90.40 points with accumulated average price change of -2.74, -1.66 and -1.80 percent respectively. While on the other side Tobacco and Automobile sectors have added 32.36 and 4.60 points in index but those could not succeed in creating a noticeable impact.
