Session Recap
The Benchmark KSE100 index opened at 37,132.64pts during current trading session with net change of -540.61pts and tried to recover in next half an hour to post day high at 37,255.13pts where a net change of -418.12pts was recorded. But bulls could not maintain their control and index slide towards 36,328.63pts with net change of -1,344.62pts and suspended on that level due to market circuit breaker halt hit by KSE30 index. Later on after restoration index posted day low at 35,895.77pts with net change of -1,777.48pts. Index closed at 35,956.69pts with net change of -1,716.56pts.
Trading volume at PSX floor inched up by 13.06 million shares or 6.0% to settle at 230.7 million shares, while trading volume of KSE100 listed companies also followed the trend and settled at 188.32 million shares with net change of 14.5 million shares or 8.34% on DoD basis. BOP, FCCL and MLCF remained top three volume leaders at PSX with net trading volume of 28.01, 17.41 and 16.80 million shares and net price change of -6.76, -6.93 and -6.70 percent respectively.
Today, 314 companies participated in trading at PSX floor and 46 out of these closed with net positive price change while 12 companies closed with no change but 256 companies closed with net negative price change. PMPK, PAKT and INDU lead the price gainers with net price change of 137.02, 124.00 and 70.31 Pkr/share. While on the other side RMPL, BATA and MARI lead the price losers with net price change of -285.50, -111.84 and -77.75 Pkr/share respectively.
Sector Performance
Cement, Banks and Power sectors remained volume leading sectors with net trading volume of 69.48, 40.04 and 21.32 million shares respectively. Tobacco sector have tried to support index against massive bearish pressure by adding 38.52 points in index but could not succeed in creating a noticeable impact on index. While on the other side Banks, Exploration and Fertilizer sectors have pushed index into negative zone by -570.96, -268.90 and -261.74 points with accumulated average price change of -5.17, -5.58 and -4.26 percent respectively.
