Session Recap
The Benchmark KSE100 index opened at 40,646.86pts with a positive gap of 115.73pts during current trading session and moved towards its day high at 40,787.09pts with a positive change of 255.96pts in next half an hour. But from that region bulls lost their control on market and index started sliding towards its day low in a zig zag mode and posted day low at 40,323.42pts with a net change of -207.71pts. While session suspended at 40,392.35pts at day end but during averaging mechanism index settled at 40,455.44pts with a net change of -75.69pts.
Trading volume at PSX floor inched up today and settled at 197.34 million shares with net change of 17.01 million shares or 9.43% on DoD basis. While same trend was being followed in trading volume figures of KSE100 listed companies where volume settled at 139.32 million shares with net change of 12.75 million shares or 10.08% on DoD basis. UNITY, DGKC and BOP remained top three volume leaders with net trading volume of 22.38, 18.22 and 13.82 million shares and net price change of 5.81, 452 and -1.37 percent respectively.
Today, 237 companies participated in trading at PSX floor and 130 out of these closed with a net positive price change while 25 companies closed with no price change but 182 companies closed with net negative price change. WYETH, BATA and NESTLE lead the price gainers with net price change of 34.60, 32.72 and 25.00n Rs/share. SFL, MARI and POML lead the price losers with net price change of -41.42, -13.57 and -9.59 Rs/share respectively.
Sector Performance
Cement, Banks and Vanaspati sectors remained volume leading sectors today with net trading volume of 34.10, 29.31 and 22.38 million shares respectively. Exploration, MOCs and Fertilizer sectors have dragged index into negative zone by -63.50, -27.56 and -21.31 points with accumulated average price change of -1.11, -1.21 and -0.28 percent respectively. While on the other side Banks have tried to push index into positive zone by adding 18.33 points but they could not succeed in creating a noticeable impact.
