Session Recap
The Benchmark KSE100 index opened at 35,306.99pts with a negative gap of -649.70pts during current trading session and dropped towards day low at 34,266.9pts where a net change of -1,689.78pts was recorded while trading was suspended in next ten minutes because KSE30 index hit its circuit breaker. Right after restoration a sharp wave of recovery was witnessed and index start moving towards positive zone. Later on index posted its day high at 36,212.38pts with net change of 255.69pts in second half while session was suspended at 36,060.88pts with net change of 104.19pts.
Trading volume at PSX floor settled at 290.39 million shares with net change of 56.69 million shares or 25.87% on DoD basis. While trading volume of KSE100 listed companies also inched up to settle at 237.64 million shares with net change of 49.33 million shares or 26.2% on DoD basis. BOP, MLCF and FCCL remained volume leaders with net trading volume of 31.11, 25.70 and 20.94 million shares and net price change of -1.76, 1.42 and 0.87 percent respectively.
Today, 335 companies participated in trading at PSX and 143 out of these closed with net positive price change while 12 companies closed with no price change but 180 companies closed with net negative price change. SAPT, ARPL and ICI remained top three price gainers with net price change of 49.99, 40.63 and 36.34 Pkr/share. While on other side PAKT, BATA and SFL remained top three price losers with net price change of -134.68, -57.38 and -46.90 Pkr/share respectively.
Sector Performance
Cement, Baks and OMCs remained top three volume leading sectors with net trading volume of 90.07, 47.17 and 24.97 million shares. Exploration, Fertilizer and OMCs sectors have pushed index into positive zone by adding 153.04, 41.62 and 40.80 points with accumulated average price change of 3.15, -0.08 and 0.96 percent respectively. While on the other side Banks, Cement and Tobacco sectors have tried to drag index into negative zone by -51.08, -37.57 and -29.83 points at day end but they could not succeed in creating a noticeable impact.
