Session Recap
The Benchmark KSE100 index opened at 43,232.02pts with a positive gap of 24.98pts during current trading session and started sliding downward in next five minutes after posting its day high at 43,239.88pts with net change of 32.84pts. Later on index remained under pressure during the day and posted day low at 42,877.90pts with net change of -329.14pts but in last half hour index started a spike and recovered till 43,069.31pts where net change remained only -137.73pts. While session suspended at 42,999.22pts at day end.
Trading volume at PSX floor are shrinking significantly this week and today total volume of 171.26 million shares was recorded with a net change of -78.41 million shares or 31.41% on DoD basis. Meanwhile trading volume of KSE100 companies also dropped by 20.63% or 31.17 million shares to settle at 119.95 million shares. BOP, MLCF and TRG remained volume leaders with net price change of 0.90, 1.75 and 0.35 percent and net trading volume of 19.65, 18.26 and 9.26 million shares.
Today, 345 companies participated in trading at PSX floor and 213 out of these closed with net negative price change while 19 companies closed in neutral zone but 113 companies still succeed in closing with positive price change. PMPK, PAKT and SCL remained top three price gainers with net price change of 83.54, 24.99 and 13.20 Rs/share. While on the other side BATA, PSEL and SFL lead the price losers with net price change of -69.72, -49.50 and -32.00 Rs/share.
Sector Performance
Cement, Banks and Technology sectors lead the volume figures today with net trading volume of 34.42, 32.96 and 16.22 million shares respectively. Exploration, Power and Banks dragged the index into negative zone by -52.14, -45.86 and -30.60 points with accumulated price change of -0.9, -0.96 and -0.10 percent in their respective companies. While on the other side Tobacco, Cement and Insurance sectors have tried to push index in to positive zone but they could not succeed in creating a noticeable impact.
