Market Evening Wrap 17th Feb. 2020

Overall a volatile session was witnessed during current trading session at PSX while the Benchmark KSE100 index opened at 40,247.64pts with a positive gap of 4.38pts and posted a day high of 40,521.69pts where a net change of 278.43pts was recorded during first hour of trading. But from that region bulls lost their control and index slide towards its day low at 40,047.93pts with a net change of -195.33pts. Later on index settled at 40,276.93pts with a positive change of 33.67pts at day end after completing its intraday bearish correction.

Trading volume at PSX floor dropped by 17.63 million shares or 14.99% on DoD basis to settle at 99.97 million shares while same trend was being followed by KSE100 listed companies and total trading volume of these companies settled at 77.58 million shares with net change of -8.23 million shares or 9.59% on DoD basis. UNITY, DGKC and HASCOL remained volume leaders with net trading volume of 16.26, 9.13 and 7.19 million shares and net price change of 5.74, -2.23 and 0.94 percent respectively.

Today, 331 companies participated in trading at PSX floor and 132 out of these closed with a net positive price change while 25 companies closed with no change but 174 companies closed with net negative price change. COLG, SRVI and SHEZ remained top three price gainers with net price change of 50.00, 39.00 and 19.01 Rs/share. While on the other side BATA, SFL and AGTL remained top three price losers with net price change of -49.80, -46.99 and -16.19 Rs/share.

Vanaspati, Cement and Banks remained top three volume leading sectors today with net trading volume of 16.26, 15.37 and 12.00 million shares respectively. Banks, OMCs and Textile composite sectors have pushed index into positive zone by adding 191.56, 53.90 and 20.00 points with accumulated average price change of 0.36, 1.26 and 0.78 percent in their respective companies. While on the other side Exploration, Power and Investment companies have tried to drag index into negative zone by -76.72,58.30 and -27.80 points with accumulated average price change of -0.60, 1.69 and -1.36 percent respectively.
