Market Evening Wrap 1st Jan. 2021

The Benchmark KSE100 index opened at 43,821.11pts with a gap of 65.73pts. Later on index posted a high of 44,874.86pts where a net change of 1,119.48pts was recorded. While a day low of 43,821.11pts with net chage of 65.73pts was witnessed during the day. While session suspended at 44,434.80pts with net change of 679.42pts.

Trading volume at PSX floor settled at 642.58 million shares with net change of 64.33 million shares or 11.13% on DoD basis. While trading volume of KSE100 listed companies also setteld at 386.33 million shares with net change of 65.70 million shares or 20.49%. POWER, HASCOL and PRL remained top three volume leaders with net trading volume of 35.84, 35.48 and 33.64 and net price change of 3.24, 2.72 and -1.51 percent respectively.

Today, 371 companies participated in trading at PSX floor, 201 out of these closed with net positive price change, while 16 companies closed with no change but 154 companies closed with net negative price change at day end. UPFL, MARI and FASM lead the price gainers with net price change of 500.00, 32.18 and 23.32 Pkr/share respectively. While on the other side GLPL, NESTLE and BATA remained top three price losers with net price change of -191.12, -37.51 and -21.31 Pkr/share respectively.

Today CEMENT, POWER GENERATION & DISTRIBUTION and OIL & GAS MARKETING COMPANIES sectors remained top three volume leading sectors with net trading volume of 90.37, 63.03 and 61.92 million shares respectively. OIL & GAS EXPLORATION COMPANIES, POWER GENERATION & DISTRIBUTION and COMMERCIAL BANKS sectors have supported index by adding 252.95, 161.76 and 144.98 points, while on the other side TECHNOLOGY & COMMUNICATION, ENGINEERING and PHARMACEUTICALS sectors have dragged index towards negative zone by -22.80, -14.44 and -12.60 points respectively.
