Market Evening Wrap 21st Jan. 2021

The Benchmark KSE100 index opened at 45,684.09pts with a gap of 7.15pts. Later on index posted a high of 46,143.53pts where a net change of 466.59pts was recorded. While a day low of 45,684.09pts with net change of 7.15pts was witnessed during the day. While session suspended at 45,984.46pts with net change of 307.52pts.

Trading volume at PSX floor settled at 606.37 million shares with net change of 129.80 million shares or 27.24% on DoD basis. While trading volume of KSE100 listed companies also settled at 333.35 million shares with net change of 114.32 million shares or 52.20%. KEL, HUMNL and PIBTL remained top three volume leaders with net trading volume of 143.82, 43.38 and 31.43 and net price change of 3.66, -4.24 and 1.26 percent respectively.

Today, 387 companies participated in trading at PSX floor, 209 out of these closed with net positive price change, while 18 companies closed with no change but 160 companies closed with net negative price change at day end. RMPL, ICI and SALT lead the price gainers with net price change of 579.00, 39.88 and 18.44 Pkr/share respectively. While on the other side GATI, MARI and AKDCL remained top three price losers with net price change of -19.99, -17.28 and -14.77 Pkr/share respectively.

Today POWER GENERATION & DISTRIBUTION, TECHNOLOGY & COMMUNICATION and FOOD & PERSONAL CARE PRODUCTS sectors remained top three volume leading sectors with net trading volume of 157.50, 90.30 and 46.19 million shares respectively. COMMERCIAL BANKS, CEMENT and TECHNOLOGY & COMMUNICATION sectors have supported index by adding 95.58, 62.52 and 40.95 points, while on the other side VANASPATI & ALLIED INDUSTRIES, AUTOMOBILE ASSEMBLER and LEATHER & TANNERIES sectors have dragged index towards negative zone by -9.83, -6.87 and -3.16 points respectively.
