Market Evening Wrap 24th Mar. 2020

The Benchmark KSE100 index opened at 28,850.93pts with a negative gap of -1,816.48pts during current trading session and trading was suspended at 28,840.71pts with net change of -1,826.70pts for two hours in next five minutes after KSE30 hit its first circuit breaker. After restoration of trading index moved towards its day low at 28,510.45pts with net change of -2,156.96pts. While session suspended at 28,564.83pts with net change of -2,102.58pts.

Trading volume at PSX floor dropped by 294.4 million shares or 74.88% on DoD basis to settle at 98.76 million shares. While trading volume of KSE100 listed companies also settled at 80.18 million shares with net change of -53.42 million shares or 39.98 percent. KEL, UNITY and BOP remained top three volume leaders with net trading volume of 25.60, 11.91 and 9.61 million shares and net price change of -11.37, -9.41 and -12.48 percent respectively.

Today, 261 companies participated in trading at PSX floor and 26 out of these closed with net positive change while 9 closed with no price change but 226 companies closed with net negative price change. BATA, SAPT and PAKT remained top three price gainers with net price change of 47.87, 33.35 and 14.90 Pkr/share, while on the other side COLG, PMPK and MARI remained top three price losers with net price change of -162.79, -145.54 and -74.31 Pkr/share.

Power, Banks and Vanaspati sectors remained volume leading sectors with net trading volume of 27.43, 14.68 and 11.91 million shares respectively. Banks, Exploration and Fertilizer sectors dragged index into negative zone by -635.55, -294.50 and -284.18 points with accumulated average price change of -7.78, -7.15 and -5.86 percent respectively.
