Session Recap
The Benchmark KSE100 index opened at 37,924.72pts with a negative gap of -413.61pts during current trading session and moved towards day low at 39,918.22pts in next one and half hour where a net change of -1420.11pts was recorded. Later on index started recovering and after an intraday correction and expansion session suspended at 38,111.29pts with net change of -227.04pts but during averaging mechanism index settled at 38,087.32pts with net change of -251.01pts.
Trading volume at PSX floor witnessed a healthy recovery and settled at 249.24 million shares with net change of 101.3 million shares or 68.47% on DoD basis. While trading volume of KSE100 listed companies also settled at 186.77 million shares with net change of 68.38 million shares or 57.75% on DoD basis. UNITY, HASCOL and MLCF remained top three volume leaders with net trading volume of 29.43, 17.54 and 15.07 million shares and net price change of -3.72, -4.02 and 5.23 percent respectively.
Today, 344 companies participated in trading at PSX floor and 96 out of these closed with positive price change while 15 companies closed with no price change but 233 companies closed with net negative price change. SFL, ICI and AKZO lead the price gainers with net price change of 44.89, 31.65 and 15.37 Rs/share. While on the other side UPFL, BATA and COLG remained top three price losers with net price change of -100.00, -52.00 and -50.00 Rs/share respectively.
Sector Performance
Cement, Vanaspati and OMC sectors remained top three volume leading sectors at PSX with net trading volume of 40.25, 29.48 and 29.15 million shares respectively. Exploration, OMCs and Automobile sectors have dragged index into negative zone by -125, -48.55 and -23.88 points with accumulated average price change of -2.04, -3.08 and -2.82 percent respectively. While on the other side Power, Cement and Banks have supported index by adding 58.33, 56.67 and 38.35 points in index with accumulated average price change of -1.78, 0.91 and 0.06 percent respectively.
