Session Recap
The Benchmark KSE100 index opened at 38,897.71pts with a positive gap of 191.44pts and same region remained day low and bull took control of the market to take it towards 39,249.01pts in first half with a net change of 542.74pts. While first half suspended at 39,155.72pts with net change of 449.45pts. In second half index posted its day high at 39,452.76pts with net change of 746.49pts, while session suspended at 39,287.65pts with net change of 581.38pts.
Trading volume at PSX floor hit above 400 million shares and the net trading volume figures of 428.9 million shares were noted with a net change of 80.37 million shares or 23.06% on DoD basis. BOP, PAEL and KEL remained top three volume leaders with net trading volume of 51.8, 20.08 and 16.43 million shares and price change of 4.20, 0.94 and 2.19 percent respectively. Some improvement in volume figures of KSE100 listed companies was also noted during current trading session and a total number of 28.94 million shares was recorded with a net change of 45.91 million shares or 21.55% on DoD basis.
Today 374 companies participated in trading at PSX floor and 279 out of these closed with a positive note while 15 closed with no change and 80 companies prices closed in negative zone. UPFL, RMPL and BATA lead the gainers with net price change of 300.00, 100.00 and 88.48 Rs/share respectively. While on the other side SIEM, HINO and INDU lead the losers with net price change of -43.22, -24.49 and -12.68 Rs/share respectively.
HBL, UBL and HUBC were top three index movers and these have pushed index by 107.25, 82.52 and 63.65 points with net price change of 6.52, 7.51 and 2.92 Rs/share, while on the other side SNGP, OGDC and MARI remained top three index shakers and these have tried to drag index in negative zone by -10.64, -8.04 and -7.62 points with net price change of -1.64, -0.53 and -12.42 Rs/share respectively.
Sector Performance
Banks, Chemical and Cement sectors remained top three volume leaders with net trading volume of 86.03, 37.73 and 34.04 million shares. Banks, Power Generation and Food & Personal Care products have added 267.78, 70.48 and 34.53 points in index with accumulated average price change of 2.51, 1.57 and 3.82 percent in their respective companies. While on the other hand Engineering, Glass & Ceramics and Investment Banks/Companies sectors have tried to drag the index in negative zone but they could not create a noticeable impact on index.
