Market Evening Wrap 5th Jan. 2021

The Benchmark KSE100 index opened at 44,616.92pts with a gap of -69.54pts. Later on index posted a high of 44,830.28pts where a net change of 143.82pts was recorded. While a day low of 44,458.71pts with net chage of -227.75pts was witnessed during the day. While session suspended at 44,650.43pts with net change of -36.03pts.

Trading volume at PSX floor settled at 582.08 million shares with net change of 41.30 million shares or 7.64% on DoD basis. While trading volume of KSE100 listed companies also setteld at 282.29 million shares with net change of -52.84 million shares or -15.77%. HUMNL, PRL and TRG remained top three volume leaders with net trading volume of 68.81, 58.18 and 31.05 and net price change of 4.15, 7.49 and 4.81 percent respectively.

Today, 376 companies participated in trading at PSX floor, 191 out of these closed with net positive price change, while 10 companies closed with no change but 175 companies closed with net negative price change at day end. GLPL, BTL and AKDCL lead the price gainers with net price change of 27.30, 22.49 and 16.06 Pkr/share respectively. While on the other side IDYM, SAPT and BATA remained top three price losers with net price change of -31.99, -29.00 and -28.37 Pkr/share respectively.

Today TECHNOLOGY & COMMUNICATION, REFINERY and POWER GENERATION & DISTRIBUTION sectors remained top three volume leading sectors with net trading volume of 136.42, 72.13 and 65.09 million shares respectively. TECHNOLOGY & COMMUNICATION, CEMENT and COMMERCIAL BANKS sectors have supported index by adding 32.59, 29.94 and 28.51 points, while on the other side OIL & GAS EXPLORATION COMPANIES, POWER GENERATION & DISTRIBUTION and OIL & GAS MARKETING COMPANIES sectors have dragged index towards negative zone by -106.92, -56.08 and -33.19 points respectively.
