Session Recap
The Benchmark KSE100 index opened at 41,028.85pts with a positive gap of 144.60pts during current trading session and moved towards 41,160.57pts where a net change of 276.32pts was recorded. Later on index take a dip from that region and posted a double top at 41,162.91pts to post its day high with net change of 278.66pts. Bulls could not succeed to push index further advance and a session started with bullish sentiment converted into a volatile one and bears drive it towards day low at 40,684.18pts where net change of -200.07pts was recorded. While session suspended at 40,724.41pts after a slight recover and with net change of -159.84pts.
Trading volume at PSX floor dropped again to settle at 127.80 million shares with net change of -18.29 million shares or 12.52 % on DoD basis. While trading volume of KSE100 listed companies shrank a bit more aggressively to settle at 92.54 million shares with net change of -13.83 million shares or 13% on DoD basis. HASCOL, LOTCHEM and BOP lead the volume leaders with net trading volume of 11.32, 8.97 and 8.34 million shares and price change of -5.99, 7.24 and -0.38 percent respectively.
Today, 353 companies participated in trading at PSX floor and 134 out of these closed with net positive price change while 18 settled in neutral zone but 201 companies closed with net negative price change. SFL, PAKT and IDYM remained top three price gainers with net price change of 44.89, 40.00 and 31.33 Rs./share. While on the other side SRVI, JDWS and AKZO lead the price losers with net price change of -30.95, -19.74 and -16.34 Rs/share respectively.
Sector Performance
Chemical, Banks and Cement sectors remained top three volume leading sectors today with net trading volume of 18.53, 17.86 and 17.00 million shares respectively. Power, Exploration and OMCs sectors have dragged index into negative zone by -65.50, -49.77 and -42.14 points with accumulated average price change of -1.18, -0.55 and -1.55 percent respectively. While on the other side Tobacco and Chemical sectors have tried to support index by adding 10.85, 8.46 points but these could not succeed in creating any noticeable impact.
